About

The Club

Vidauban Golf Club is an exclusive members’ club located in the heart of “Plaine des Maures” a national park of exceptional beauty close to the Côte d’Azur in the South of France. The club is over 20 miles from private airports in Saint Tropez and about 40 miles from Cannes. It is just sixty minutes by car from both Nice International Airport and Toulon/Hyères Airport.

The culmination of a lifetime’s work, the 800-hectare property became the canvas on which legendary architect Robert Trent Jones Sr. created his opus. As both owner and designer, Mr. Jones sculpted a golf course of truly special splendour amongst the parasol pines in this remote and spectacular part of Provence.

Today Vidauban Golf Club is home to a small and discreet French and international membership who share the same passion for the game, a vision of excellence and an appreciation for the sanctuary it provides for their families and guests in term of quality of life and nature.

The Course

Set against the backdrop of the Massif des Maures, the golf course at Vidauban meanders through a spectacular landscape of sandstone outcrops, parasol pines and cork trees.

Every hole crafted by Mr. Jones is extraordinary in its strategy and beauty. His love and mastery of risk-reward is prevalent as is his determination to provide an infinite variety of golf shots.

Over the last 12 months, with guidance from Robert Trent Jones II Golf Course Architects, the Club has invested in a significant renovation programme designed to restore original grassing lines and bunkering design.

But as much as Mr Jones was a forward thinker and visionary architect, the club has also decided to dramatically control its water-consumption in investing in the latest technology, in introducing bark mulch from local cork trees and seeding large sections of fescue areas in the outside roughs.

Robert Trent Jones Legacy

«  I had to somehow get involved with golf in some big way »

In the late 1980s, following decades of extraordinary design, Robert Trent Jones Sr was faced with one of the greatest challenges of his long and illustrious career. To create in continental Europe, on 800 hectares of his own land in Provence, one of the world’s truly exceptional golf courses. One where he would invest not only a lifetime’s experience, but stake his own money on realizing his vision.

Mr. Jones’ vision included not only a golf course of outstanding beauty and masterful design, but a hamlet setting new standards of excellence for accommodations and service.

Today this legacy is reflected in our continued commitment to privacy, and our determination to preserve Robert Trent Jones’s vision for excellence.
